Capture Your First Bug
There are two capture modes in the UI Zap extension: Screenshot and Record video.
You can also use Instant Replay to grab the last couple of minutes from a background session replay.
Screenshot
- Click the UI Zap extension icon and choose “Screenshot”.
- Click and drag to select an area to crop. Adjust as needed.
- After you release, the review page opens.
- Annotate the screenshot if you like (arrows, boxes, blur, text).
- Add a concise title and description.
- Click “Create” to create the bug ticket.
Record video
- Click the UI Zap extension icon and choose “Record video”.
- The extension records your current browser tab.
- If you want microphone audio, grant mic permission when prompted.
- When finished, click the “Stop recording” button on the floating bar.
- The review page opens where you can:
- Add a title and description.
- Click “Create” to create the bug ticket.
Session replay (Instant Replay)
- UI Zap automatically records HTML changes for the current tab in the background and stores them locally on your machine.
- When you encounter a bug, open the extension and choose “Instant Replay”. You’ll have access to the last ~2 minutes of activity for that tab.
- The review page includes the replay segment along with automatically captured logs, metadata, and repro steps.
- Add a title and description, then click “Create” to create the bug ticket.
Privacy note
- We do not send any data to our servers until you decide to create a ticket.
- Until then, all data stays local and the extension periodically purges older data to limit storage usage.
