Capture Your First Bug

There are two capture modes in the UI Zap extension: Screenshot and Record video.

You can also use Instant Replay to grab the last couple of minutes from a background session replay.

Screenshot

  1. Click the UI Zap extension icon and choose “Screenshot”.
  2. Click and drag to select an area to crop. Adjust as needed.
  3. After you release, the review page opens.
    • Annotate the screenshot if you like (arrows, boxes, blur, text).
    • Add a concise title and description.
  4. Click “Create” to create the bug ticket.

Record video

  1. Click the UI Zap extension icon and choose “Record video”.
    • The extension records your current browser tab.
    • If you want microphone audio, grant mic permission when prompted.
  2. When finished, click the “Stop recording” button on the floating bar.
  3. The review page opens where you can:
    • Add a title and description.
  4. Click “Create” to create the bug ticket.

Session replay (Instant Replay)

  1. UI Zap automatically records HTML changes for the current tab in the background and stores them locally on your machine.
  2. When you encounter a bug, open the extension and choose “Instant Replay”. You’ll have access to the last ~2 minutes of activity for that tab.
  3. The review page includes the replay segment along with automatically captured logs, metadata, and repro steps.
  4. Add a title and description, then click “Create” to create the bug ticket.

Privacy note

  • We do not send any data to our servers until you decide to create a ticket.
  • Until then, all data stays local and the extension periodically purges older data to limit storage usage.
